About Me

I have an MLIS from San Jose State University and completed my indexing training through the American Society for Indexing (ASI). I work as the Assistant Director and Adult Services Librarian at Guntersville Public Library in Alabama. As a reference librarian, my experience assisting patrons with research, writing, and general information gathering has provided me with a unique understanding of how people search for information—an  important skill for creating quality, user-friendly indexes.

I am a member of the ASI, American Library Association, and Alabama Library Association. I am active in all three organizations and stay up to date on emerging trends and best practices by attending local and national conferences and webinars. I am also a committee member for the Alabama Author Awards.

Before I started a family and earned a BA in Community Studies, I attended nursing school at the University of Alabama. While my life and career ultimately took a different path, I remain passionate about health and medicine. As an avid nature lover I spend most of my spare time outdoors in my garden, camping, hiking, and of course, reading.
